Hello!

I'm Andrew

I am a photographer based on the Wirral in the north west of England. Most of my photography falls into the landscape category, but I also take a lot of macro and abstract images as well as occasional forays into architectural. I like to try and capture just a glimpse of what nature offers us; the changing seasons, variable weather and wonderful light.

The majority of my images are currently taken on and around my home patch. I feel that we all have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint in order to protect the planet so travelling less and photographing locally makes sense. I also think it is a good way for a photographer to improve their skills by making the most of what they have on their doorstep rather than travelling to capture 'chocolate box' images that lots of other people have already captured.

Tuition

I offer customised tuition on either a one-to-one basis or for small groups (up to a maximum of 6). Sessions can be from one hour to a whole day (or more) and can be field-based photography sessions or indoor technical tuition, or even a mixture of the two.

The sessions will always be tailored to your needs, but examples of some of the topics that can be covered include;

Getting to know your camera

Photography basics (exposure, aperture, shutter speed etc.)

Using aperture or shutter priority modes for more creative control

Optimising exposure

Composition tips

Focussing techniques (including hyperfocal)

Image workflow and RAW file processing in Adobe Lightroom

Presentations

I can deliver presentations to organisations such as camera clubs. These can be as simple as slide shows of images to provide inspiration, or more involved technical presentations on topics such as panoramic or time-lapse photography.

In addition to the images you can see on this website, I also offer a range of limited edition contemporary abstract art on my other website, Cur8ted.Art. Inspired by nature, these artworks are an intriguing blend of textures and organic elements that have been captured photographically. Ripples in a stream, patterns in the sand, weathered paint, rusty metal, plants - all potential sources of inspiration that have been carefully combined to produce images with a painterly feel but also an unusual abstraction that invites attention and discussion.
